For Hot Chocolate Santa, we led the full creative direction and interior layout design, building a visually rich book experience anchored in our handcrafted illustrations. Our approach centered on creating a seamless dialogue between narrative and imagery—where each spread feels like a continuation of the story rather than a separation of text and art. We designed a dynamic layout system that alternates between immersive, full-bleed scenes and structured text pages, using soft fades, frosted textures, and elegant framing devices to integrate copy directly into the world of the illustration. Custom typographic treatments and chapter markers were developed to reinforce the book’s whimsical, confection-inspired theme while maintaining a refined, editorial quality.

Throughout the project, we paid close attention to pacing, readability, and visual rhythm, ensuring that each page turn delivers both clarity and delight. Our team carefully composed text placement around focal points within the artwork, allowing illustrations to breathe while guiding the reader naturally through the story. Consistent design motifs—delicate snowflake overlays, warm holiday color palettes, and subtle environmental transitions—were applied across spreads to create a cohesive visual identity from beginning to end.
